In August 2005, as part of Israel's unilateral disengagement plan, several Jewish settlements from the Gaza Strip and a select few from the West Bank were relocated to other areas in Israel.

During this time the world’s attention was divided between the emotions of the displaced settlers and how the PLO (Palestine Liberation Organization) would use this historic event to further the peace process.

These photos document a very small moment in the long history of the conflict that still continues:
