As the Presidential campaigns and debates raged on in 2004, the issue of illegal immigrants and permeable borders were thrown back into the limelight. Day after day the public was inundated with images and stories of desperate immigrants crossing the border and the impact they had on the American quality of life.

I began to wonder how these people get here and what ordeals they faced along the way.

In 2005, I began networking with South American communities in Brooklyn, New York. It was not long before I met Hondurans who had immigrated to the United States. Through them I made contact with other Hondurans who were planning to immigrate to the United States by way of the Mexico border. Together, we walked into Mexico and traveled north as far as we could before we were arrested.

This is a collection of photographs from the journey that took us from Honduras to deep inside Mexico,

The immigration dilemma is a sad saga which continues to this day.
